World Youth Skills Day Competition

In commemoration of World Youth Skills Day 2022, FYCI is launching a competition to give young people an opportunity to demonstrate their creative writing skills.

About the Competition

The competition is aimed at:

  • giving young people an opportunity to showcase their skills
  • harnessing youth creativity into positive messaging
  • stimulating discourse around youth political participation ahead of the 2023 elections

Prizes

How to Enter

  • Write a short creative piece (max: 600 words) on the theme: “Promoting Youth Political Participation in Nigeria”. Your entry can be a poem, a short story, an essay, or just a creative write-up.
  • Apply by filling in the application form below

Eligibility

You must be aged 35 or below to enter. Two winners will be picked from the senior category (18 to 35), two will be picked from the junior category (17 and below), and a final winner will be picked from either the senior or junior category.

Deadline Sunday, 31 July 2022.

Assessment Criteria

Entries will be assessed according to the following criteria:

  • Powerful messaging focused on promoting youth political participation
  • High level of creativity and innovation
  • Strong writing skills

Look out for the announcement of the winners on our social media platforms (@fycinitiative). The winners will be announced in August 2022.

Entries to the Competition

As the 2023 general elections in Nigeria are fast approaching, this magazine compiles all entries into the World Youth Skills Day Competition to further generate discussions around youth political participation.
